Karnala: Fort As Well As Bird Sanctuary

from here. In winter Karnala is visited by several migratory birds, mostly wood
land species which come in from their breeding grounds in the Himalayas. The
best bird watching time here is between November and February. Established as a
sanctuary in 1971, the checklist of birds recorded in the tiny forest totals up
to an impressive 150 plus species. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Elephanta caves : The Three Headed Shiva (Trimurti)

India</b> (Mumbai) lies <b>Elephanta</b> also known as <b>Gharapuri</b>. This green island is

etc. The shrines at Elephnata caves belong to the Pashupati faith. Mauryas and
Chalukyas patronised these shrines. The caves probably belong to era between
8th and 10th centuries A.D. Motor launches are available from Gateway of India

by a queen named Ahilyabai Holkar at the end of the 18th century are other

temple are found near the town on the left bank of the Khelna and some caves are

visit the temple in large numbers, especially on Chaturthi days. A fair conducted

part of the Satpura Mountain along Anner and Manjal rivers. Spreading over an
area of about 177 sq. km, the sanctuary is the home to tiger, leopard, hyena,
jackal, fox, wolf, sambar deer, chinkara, nilgai, wild boar, barking deer,
jungle cat, palm civet, wild dog, sloth bear and flying squirrel. Land birds,
hill birds and a few kinds of wetland birds are also seen here. A lake called
Suki is housed within the sanctuary that attracts a large number of migratory
birds. The best time to visit the sanctuary is February to May.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
