PLACES OF INTEREST

BAHINABAI PARK:

Bahinabai Udyan is another park located in the centre of the city. It is named after Bahinabai Chaudhari, a well-known poetess of Maharashtra. There are many types of trees over here.

 ECCHAPURTI GANESH TEMPLE:

This temple is situated at Navi Peth, near Balaji Sweet Mart in jalgaon. The temple is thronged by large number of devotees on Ganesh Chaturthi every year.

J.K. PARK:

Developed recently, this park is situated near Mehrun garden. Rabbits, parrots, and birds are among the main attractions of the park. Another attraction of the place is a water pond, called as 'Mehrun Talaavl The water of the pond is cool and the sunset view from there is very attractive. The pond is full of water for nearly all the months of the year.

MAHATMA GANDHI GARDEN:

A beautiful garden located near New Bus Stand, lt spreads over a sprawling area and houses a wide variety of exquisite flowers. Children would love this place.

MEHRUN (PARK):

One of the oldest parks located in the centre of the city on Shirsholi road, it is a cool place with a number of trees, which attract many people.

NAVARATRA MAHALAKSHMI TEMPLE:

This temple is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. This temple is built with stones, with a ’kalash' (pot-like structure) on the top of its tower. Brass bars are fitted on the four sides of the temple. The throne of the deity is plated with silver with a dimension of 41x41 inches. These plates are embellished with fine carvings. Behind the throne is a Shivlinga and an idol of Lord Ganesh. Located still farther behind, is an idol of Lord Hanuman facing the west and measuring three and half inches? An annual fair is held in this temple for 10 days during the Hindu month of Bhadrapad (August-September).

OMKARESHWAR MANDIR (1 KM):

One of the most famous and beautiful temples in jalgaon City, dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is situated at Jai Nagar. Shivratri, Shravni Somvar, Ramnavmi, Gokulashtami are the significant festivals celebrated in this temple.

PATNADEVI:

An ancient and religious place, it gained prominence as the birth-place of the great Scientist Bhaskaracharya.

SHIRSOLI LAKE (4 KM):

The lake, surrounded by viridescent hills, wears an ornamented look in monsoon – an unparallel sight of nature's splendor.

TARSOD (8 KM):

It is a holy spot of the Hindus and the temple of Lord Ganesha lures draws devotees from far and wide. The temple has a huge gateway of 30 ft. height known as Raman Dwar. A monthly festival called Sankashti Chaturthi and annual festivals such as Tripura Pournima, Tilakunda Chaurthi and Angarika Chaturthi are celebrated here.

EXCURSIONS

AMALNER (55 KM):

A famous ]ain Teerth is located here. The temple enshrines a 27cm high, black-colored idol of Bhagvan Girua Parshwanath in the Padmasana posture. It is believed that the idol in this temple is about 500 years old. Thousands of devotees visit the temple every year.

CHANGDEO:

The 3,000 years old Changdev temple is located at Changdeo village in Edlabad Taluk. The temple is dedicated to the great ascetic, Changdeo Maharaj. It is believed that this holy saint lived for 1,400 years, the temple known for its traditional architecture is decorated with carved stone idols. The Annual fair is held here in January-February.

KOTHALI (46 KM):

An ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Muktabai is located here.

MANGAL DEO GRAH MANDIR:

Situated on the outskirts of Amalner, on Chopda Road. The temple is dedicated to God Mars. It is believed that there are only two such temples in India. Annual festivals are held during every Tuesday in the Shravan month.

MANUDEVI TEMPLE:

This temple is located in beautiful natural surroundings near Adgaon villge in Yawal taluka. The temple is surrounded by forested hills. A fair is also held here annually. With a waterfall and breathtaking views, this place is good for trekking.

 PAROLA:

Parola is a historic village situated between Dhulia and Jalgaon, on the Mumbai Nagpur National Highway No 6. An 18th century fort that belonged to the father of great Rani of Jhansi is the major attraction here. Janardhan Temple, Shriram Temple, Santoshi Mata Temple, Hinglaj Mata Temple, Bhate Temple and Shree Dwarkadhish Temple are some of the sacred places worth visiting.

PADMALAYA:

Padmalaya also known, as 'Prabhakshetra' is a religious place located in Erandol Taluka. It is famous for housing the temples of Lord Ganapati and Hanuman.

PAL (80 KM):

Located in western Satpuda hill ranges, Pal is a picturesque hill station with a forest park, a wild animal orphanage, nursery, garden and a good museum of forest produce. The best time to visit the hill station and the sanctuary is during February-May months.

SWINGING TOWERS OF FARKANDE (JHULTE MANORE):

Located on the bank of river Utawadi, Swinging Towers of Farkande is a pair of 250 years old towers, which are good examples of the old construction technique. Both the towers are 15m long and when one of them is moved the other tower also starts swaying automatically. The towers were built in the 18th century by Chand Momin.

UNAPDEV:

A religious place in Chopda taluk, it is located in the foothills of Satpuda hill range. Unapdev is believed to have been the dwelling place of Sage Sharbhang. According to legends, Lord Ram visited the place after killing Ravana. Hot water springs, which never dry, and remains hot even during winter is the main attraction here. A fair is held here during December-January.

YAWAL WILDLIFE SANCTUARY (32 KM NORTH):

Located in Yawal taluka, the sanctuary lies on the western part of the Satpura Mountain along Anner and Manjal rivers. Spreading over an area of about 177 sq. km, the sanctuary is the home to tiger, leopard, hyena, jackal, fox, wolf, sambar deer, chinkara, nilgai, wild boar, barking deer, jungle cat, palm civet, wild dog, sloth bear and flying squirrel. Land birds, hill birds and a few kinds of wetland birds are also seen here. A lake called Suki is housed within the sanctuary that attracts a large number of migratory birds. The best time to visit the sanctuary is February to May.
